Barefoot Yoga

KaRon moved to Oakland in 2006 after receiving her MBA in Marketing. Because of the state of the economy, her job hunt proved to be very stressful. She found herself needing to practice yoga more and more just to feel balanced. Her desire to lead a peaceful existence led KaRon to get serious about yoga. She practiced on her own off and on for a while, and decided to learn more about the discipline. Finally she decided to become an instructor. She completed her certification in yoga from the Barefoot Movement training program in Oakland and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. To KaRon, yoga  is both a mental and physical practice. She believes yoga can help cleanse your body and your mind & that with regular practice, your entire being can become lighter and leave you feeling energized. She is also a certified Life Coach and a Health/ Wellness Coach.

 

KaRon has studied Iyengar, Vinyasa, Anusara, Hatha, Yin, Restorative, Kudalini & Pre-natal yoga.   Her Anusara training combines a strong emphasis on physical alignment with a positive philosophy derived from Tantra. Her Anusara class is accessible to students of differing abilities. Poses are taught in a way that opens the heart, both physically and mentally.  With beginners, KaRon relies on the slow, gentle pace and the introduction of basics in Hatha.

Class with KaRon: KaRon’s style is Vinyasa Slow Flow. She uses breath cues for transitioning into poses & allows the student to take the time to find proper alignment with the aid of her verbal cueing and hands on adjustments. KaRon’s class is gentle enough for beginners and challenging enough for the intermediate student. There is no music to distract the individual from concentrating on his/her personal practice.

Cristin Shea


Cristin Shea has been practicing yoga for over 16 years. She started her official training with mentor, Tim Thompson, of Monkey Yoga Shala in 1999 then became certified in Ashtanga Yoga from It's Yoga in San Francisco in 2005. After graduating, she went and trained with Nancy Gilgoff in Maui, HI in the summer of 2005 and immediately began teaching at Alameda's Dance/10 upon arriving home. She has named her teachings Ahimsa Flow Yoga: "ahimsa" for non-violence and "vinyasa" for the flow of moving meditation. Cristin shares these twin tools to help navigate our ever-changing environment more peacefully and authentically.

Class with Cristin: Ahimsa Vinyasa Yoga is a flow yoga steeped in compassion and kindness while encouraging individuals to safely challenge themselves within their comfort zone. Classes are set to music and a warm environment (70º) and taught with modifications for each asana (pose) so beginners through advanced practitioners all benefit while practicing side by side inspiring and sharing the energy and wisdom of others.
